The 90/10 Rule

When people hear I don’t eat dairy, wheat or sugar, they always ask, What do you Eat? I tell them everything! Seriously I love food and I don’t feel deprived at all, simply healthier! I have learned that healthy food CAN taste good and is good for you while junk food, while it may taste good is NEVER good for you!

I practice the 90/10 rule. 90% of the time I am super clean in what I eat. I mix in 10% of those old comfort foods that regardless of who you are you crave! For me those things would be pizza or gluten free bagels, french fries or even dare I say it the occasional hot dog! Sweets are also in this category. Even tho I don’t eat refined sugar, I still bake cakes and cookies and other recipes from my cookbook that use honey or agave for sweetener.

By eating clean (organic, healthy, greens, beans and grains) 90% of the time, I can indulge when I want with what I want, make sense?

We live in a world FULL of unhealthy choices and most of us grew up with unhealthy choices so I think to be sustainable it’s ok to indulge now and again to feed those feelings. You might find, once you recognize why you crave something, you will stop craving it!
